This was a circular walk through various woodlands, where we saw lots of different types of fungi. Leaving the Maenllwyd Inn overflow car park we followed the Cambrian Way, eastward, to then descend through Coed Cefn-pwll-du towards Draethen. We then climbed westerly through Coed y Bwdrwm & Coed y Squire to the Rhymney Ridgeway before entering Coed Llwyn-celyn to ascend to the lunch stop & trig point above Craig Llysfaen with extensive views over Cardiff and the Bristol Channel. Dropping down from the ridge, we crossed the valley and ascended to Cefn Onn farm. We then returned, heading east, via the Rhymney Valley Ridgeway Walk/ Cambrian Way, through Coed Cefn-onn, before reaching the WW2 Special Duties bunker, in the woods, just as we returned to the Maenllwyd Inn.
